Community Integration + Welfare + Skills for work Project

Community Integration and welfare and Skills for work

Julian Betancur
The aim of the LADPP Employment Rights and Welfare Project (Skills for Work) is to improve the quality of life of the Spanish and Portuguese community living in London, providing and helping them to access services they require to meet their welfare, housing, disability and health needs in order to reduce the risk of poverty and homelessness for those earning a low income. In addition, we aim to equip our users with the skills and knowledge they need to find work in the UK, to access training opportunities to further their careers and to ensure they are able to identify and avoid exploitation in the workplace.

During the Covid-19 health and social crisis, we have provided an emergency response to deliver remote and face-to-face advice to people whose jobs have been affected by the pandemic. We make sure they are aware of their labour rights, so that they know what they are entitled to if their work has been subject to contract and conditions changes due to the pandemic. In addition, we support people whose income has been affected by making sure they can access public funds. We also ensure that people are aware of their tax, national insurance and self-Assessment Tax return requirements so they can avoid fines.
