EU settlement project and services:

Mauricio Conto
We support EU passport holders and their families to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme so that they continue to have their right to live, study, work and access public services and funds in the UK. Without our support many people would find it difficult or impossible to apply due to the language barrier and digital obstacles. We help people understand what their rights are so that no one is left behind as a result of the UK leaving the EU.

We help to process the EU settlement:
  • Of the rearrangement or relocation of people within the European Union
  • Of children whether born here or relocated by the European Union.
  •  For relocated people who are legally married and their partner is outside the United Kingdom
  • The EU settlement is also granted to people who have been outside the United Kingdom for personal reasons or for covid-19
  • We also helped process the change of the biometric card (BRC) for the new card under the UK regulations.
People under the EU who have arrived after June 30, 2021 will not be able to apply for EU settlement because they do not meet the established requirements dictated by the gov.uk such as residing in the United Kingdom before December 31, 2020 and having at least 6 months of record in the United Kingdom.

Casework:

This case was about a client (Mr. B) who had not received his biometric card (BRP) for more than 7 months which was uncommon. Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) cards are immigration documents. They are a similar size to a photo-driving license or an identity card and contain your personal and biometric information. If he didn't get it in time he would have to leave the country.  As the urgency escalated due to the prolonged absence of Mr. B's biometric card, our persistence became even more crucial. Despite several failed attempts at delivery and escalating concerns about Mr. B's immigration status, we continued to liaise with the Home Office.

Understanding the gravity of the issue, they expedited the process and issued another biometric card at short notice.
The relief on Mr. B's face upon receiving the much-awaited card was palpable. It was a moment of triumph, not just for our team but especially for Mr. B, who could now continue residing in the UK without the fear of having to leave due to administrative delays.
This case underscored the significance of persistence and collaboration in navigating immigration matters. It served as a testament to the power of advocacy and swift action in safeguarding the rights and well-being of our clients during critical junctures.
