NEWS
Latin American Disabled People’s Project News
January - April 2012
Welcome to the first edition of our information bulletin in 2012
LADPP welcomes you to another year of service. As community organisations know well, they are in danger of having to close their doors due to a lack of financial resources since the government has decided to suspend financial support to community organisations; each time it is more difficult to obtain sponsorship from foundations, Trust and Lottery Funds.
This leaves organisations vulnerable, facing difficulties in maintaining services to their
communities.
What the government seeks is that communities maintain their own projects otherwise the projects will have to close their doors. They want the organisations to believe in a culture of sustainability through their own members.
First of all I want to thank all those members and users of the organisation who have supported the Project with their monthly donations and by renewing their annual memberships. The money has helped us cover the administration costs of the organisation. Additionally, thanks to those who have contributed to the raffles and other activities that have taken place to raise
funds for the organisation.
I want to take advantage of this opportunity to encourage all of you who continue to support the organisation with your financial contributions which enable the organisation to continue offering its services to the community in these times of crisis and great change which in one way or another have had an impact on our lives.
Also, I want to thank all of the volunteers who have worked in the organisation helping us to provide the project’s services to the community via the different activities of the charity. And also to invite all those who wish to work with us as volunteers at the charity to join us and share their
abilities and potential within the project.
LADPP continues offering its services to both able and disabled Spanish and Portuguese speakers seeking to improve their quality of life and the community integration of all its members and users. In this time of crisis we need to be united and to work for the common good.
We hope to be able to continue offering our services in the years ahead. Your continuing contribution and support are essential for the future of the organisation.
